Stansted Hall & Elsenham Cricket Club 1st XI v Much Hadham on Tue 22 May 2007 at 6.00
Stansted Hall & Elsenham Cricket Club Won
Match report
Hall were asked to bat first after Much Hadham won the toss in Hall's opening Davies Cup match. A classic Slazenger ball was used in the 'non league cup', and the Hadham young opening bowlers bowled extremely well with it causing most batsmen problems with their late swing and good length's.
Hall got off to a very slow start. Bousy and Nicko, obviously keen to push for selection in the forthcoming second test against the Windies, stuck around for Hall after the loss of Baloo and the Skipper, with Bousy making a fine 19 from 15 overs! The 'floaters' were sent in to give it a whack for the last five overs as Hall were undone by Triggy's bowling, which he seemed to particularly enjoy. Hall didn't manage to bat for their 20 overs and were all out for 93.
A quick turn around and a dejected Hall side took the field. A few inspirational words from Suddsy and the Skipper were said and Hall went out defending their total. Glassy bowled superbly early doors and two quick wickets put Hall in with a sniff. Willo then sorted out his length and also claimed an early wicket, being that of the game's Sky Sports commentator's. Both enjoying the choice of ball that actually did something, claimed two more wickets apiece, catches held by Golden and Keefy. Baloo replaced Glassy and turned the screw with a wonderful half tracker that was superbly caught by Golden when the volley in the top corner looked the more likely option. Hallsy then took a fine one handed catch off Baloo once again, before Baloo claimed his third wicket thanks to a smart catch from Woody at short fine leg. Much Hadham were eventually bowled out for 39.
