Ilford Catholics v Stansted Hall & Elsenham Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 05 May 2007 at 1.30
Stansted Hall & Elsenham Cricket Club Won 25 runs
Match report
Hall made the long journey to Ilford for their first league game of the season. Upon arrival, Hall were suprised to find the wicket fairly wet. The skipper was once again unable to win the toss and Hall were asked to bat.
Hall made a slow start in difficult conditions and only managed 56 runs for the loss of wickets from their first 20 overs, V Mulholland bowling particularly well. Wickets continued to fall regualrly before the run rate was upped with some good knocks from the skipper and Danish. Hall finished on 198 for 8 from their 45 overs with Nicholls claiming 4 wickets.
A delicious tea and Off Hall went into the field. Willo claimed an early wicket but Tooth started the innings off very quickly for Ilford making a quick 49 with the new ball proving to be pretty awful. Rak and Mauley then turned the screw and 4 wickets were claimed to put Hall into the driving seat. However, V Mulholland and the eager Channa built a useful partnership and the game was in the balance with 5 overs to go. Goldenarm once again came to the rescue as he claimed both scalps and another wicket with Glassy finishing off the tail. Ilford were bowled out for 173 with an over to spare.
High fives were shared amongst the Hall players and an evening out was enjoyed by most players, although some suspect items of clothing were worn by the skipper and Clappers.
