Farnham I v Stansted Hall & Elsenham Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 26 May 2007 at 1.30
Stansted Hall & Elsenham Cricket Club Lost
Match report
Hall made the long journey to Farnham in hope of maintaining their unbeaten league record. For the first time this season the skipper won the toss and elected to have a bowl first. This seemed to be a good decision as Willo claimed two very early wickets and Glassy once again bowled tightly. Hall did not take their third wicket for another 18 overs until Bousy, The Hoff, entered attack to remove the composed C Wilton.
A Collingwood-esque piece of fielding by Chiser dismissed Thorogood as Golden entered the attack to take his customary four wicket haul. McCraith hit a powerful 94 and a good knock of 28 from M Sellars at the end saw Farnham to 211 all out, with two further run outs.
The Farnham tea was once again of the highest standard and The Hoff and Glassy opened up for Hall today. Glassy was run out early and Danish didn't really trouble the scorers either. The Skipper and The Hoff steadied the ship and put Hall in a good position before The Hoff fell for 42. Keefy joined The Skipper and Hall looked in the driving seat with the drizzle now set in for the afternoon. The dismissal of Livings turned the game around with Hall's run rate slowly going from four an over required to 8. Few two's and three's were being run and wickets tumbled as the lower order tried to hit their way out of trouble. M Wilton turned his arm over and was Hall's chief destroyer with 3 wickets at the end to give Farnham 26 points thanks to a 7 run victory.
Hall may feel this was 26 points lost, but credit to Farnham for staying out in the drizzle and winning the game.
