Thorley I v Stansted Hall & Elsenham Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 10 May 2008 at 1:30
Stansted Hall & Elsenham Cricket Club Won by 8 wickets
Match report
After an early morning net for half of the team, Hall travelled to Thorley. The late drop out of Wazza meant Chisa was called up from the 2's. Hall won the toss and after much deliberation, Skipper Dawson decided to have a bowl. Both openers bowled tightly but no breakthrough was made. The Skipper brought himself on and this got Hall their breakthrough with Ralph claiming two wickets in one over. Ralph then claimed the wicket of Fidell who made a good 47 and there was also a run-out in between. Glassy and Willo then returned and claimed two wickets a piece, Willo removing danger man Phillips thanks to a great catch from Chisa. Golden-arm got his first bowl of the season and in typical fashion got two wickets for tap. A good performance in the field as Thorley were all out for 169.
The french stick option for tea was enjoyed, in particular by Glassy who just doesn't understand why more teams don't make use of his favourite bread item.
Hall made a steady start in chasing down the total before Keefy and Glassy started to up the run rate. Both made 50's at an good rate with Glassy bringing his up with a six clipped off his legs. After reaching 50, Glassy danced down the track and was stumped. Keefy continued his good work before falling for 78, when a 'red-inker' was in sight, with six required, with Jonesy hitting the winning runs with 7 overs to spare.
