Stansted Hall & Elsenham Cricket Club 1st XI v Chesterfords on Sat 17 May 2008 at 1:30
Stansted Hall & Elsenham Cricket Club Won by 49 runs
Match report
A miserable day at the Hall brought Hall's 3rd league win out of 3. Hall lost the toss and were not suprisingly asked to have a bat first.
Hall lost Livings early on for 8 but this brought Harv's to the crease, and with Keefy, both batsmen established themselves on a difficult track. Both batsman matched one another's run rate as both passed 50 within a few overs of one another. Harv's however brought up his 100 first with some great shots, including a reverse sweep that found it's way to the boundary. Harv's fell for 108, as Keefy continued in his pursuit for his first Hall league ton. This was reached eventually, as in typical fashion, Keefy claimed another famous 'red-inker' finishing unbeaten on 118. Hall finsished up on 258 for 3 which could have been more were it not for Chesterford's efforts in the field, particularly that of Squares.
Tayl's tea was....interesting, no meat at all! Mental note for meat eaters to no longer accomodate veggie's at cricket teas.
Hall made early breakthrough's in their defence as Dawsy claimed three early wickets. Willo and Seb also chipped in as Seb enjoyed his first trundle of the season deservedly claiming two wickets. Hall then appeared to take their foot off the gas and a great stand between Squares and Lewis started to make Hall a bit jittery before Ralph turned to the experienced heads of Baloo and Harv's to tighten thngs up at the end. Both deservedly claimed two wickets a piece to leave Hall with another 26 league points to their name.
