1st XI remain top after comfortable victory

11 Jun 2018

Hatfield Heath won the toss and surprised most by batting first on an overcast day. Naz and Raja got straight to work, moving the ball regularly and causing the openers problems early on. The breakthrough eventually came with Raja pinning the batsman lbw. He followed this up by clean bowling the danger man R.George for just 6. With momentum on our side Naz finally broke his league bowling duck with a jaffa, the opener edging behind and Zobel taking a smart catch (that was to be Naz's one and only contribution). Wickets continued to fall with Jacob and Sam helping themselves to one each, but it was the introduction of Jason Brown that truly swung the innings in our favour. Brown finger produced excellent figures of 7 overs 3 for 24, and combined with Dave's two wickets, the Heath were skittled out for 123.

In reply, the Hall were never troubled, as Mohsin strolled to 69* and despite Jimmy Brown (9) forgetting how to play a straight ball, Rory (40*) combined well with Mohsin to knock the runs off within 20 overs.

A great win from the boys, and a huge game against Takeley awaits next week!
