1st XI promoted, 2nd XI finish 5th

03 Sep 2018

With the final league games of the year coming to a close, we are pleased to confirm that the 1st XI are returning of Division 1 of the Herts and Essex Cricket League for the first time since 2010. Victory against Farnham in the penultimate game secured promotion to end a hugely successful season for the team. Mohsin finished the season as top run scorer with 697 runs, with Rory finishing as leading wicket taker with 29 wickets. Everyone pitched in throughout the season, and all deserve plaudits for a superb campaign.

After a shaky start, the 2nd XI found some brilliant end of season form to secure 5th spot in Division 5. 6 wins from their last 7 games, including wins against promotion hunting Three Caps and Ardeley Walkern, meant that they finished well clear of the teams below them. Kieran finished leading run scorer with 365 runs and Woody leading wicket taker with 21 wickets.A difficult season with lots of players having to help the 1s and others not being able to play regularly, but a great effort to turn things around after a tough start.

Well done to everyone that played across both teams, it's been a hugely successful season for the club. Bring on 2019!
