Dunmow III v Stansted Hall & Elsenham Cricket Club 2nd XI on Sat 30 Apr 2011 at 1.30PM
Stansted Hall & Elsenham Cricket Club Won 5 Wickets
Match report
Dry and sunny, with a 32 yard boundary on one side! Dunmow won the toss and decided to bat, a decision they were probably regretting as they slumped to 32 - 4 after only 8 overs. They rallied through Swanston (29) and Hood (84) and finally finished on 163 all out. Allan Sowter bowled well for only 1 wicket and Max ripped through their top order with 3 early wickets. Tony Brown and Joel Moscow picked up a wicket apiece, Joel especially doing well to keep his nerve during Hoods onslaught and they set the stage for James Fortune to mop up the tail with a devastating spell of accurate and hostile pace bowling.
Tony Brown and Matt Patmore gave us a solid start, putting on 64 for the first wicket in 14 overs, Tony was plumb LBW, James Cooper soon fell in the same fashion for 10 and Matt's patient innings of 21 was ended with the score on 104. Then George Burton played a mature innings of 28 and Joel chipped in with 9 until getting a very good ball which he edged behind. Max with 24 and Foxy with 9 saw us home with 4 overs to spare.
All in all a good performance and an enjoyable afternoon.
