Match report Two Victories in two weeks for the seconds!
A great all-round performance by the team has really kept our battle against relegation alive. All the batsmen played well, with Ian Laird hitting a very quick 64 and James Gorgon stabilising the inning with a classy 75. Both lost their wickets in search of quick runs at the end. The foundation of the innings was the steady start by the two openers, who sore of some fiery opening bowling and enabled the other bats to take advantage of the weaker bowlers in Farnham’s attack.
All the bowlers did well, keeping down the run rate and making the batsmen take risks. Ross Laird made the first crucial break through and Nick Kesingland then removed the other opener in the next over. Wickets feel regularly after that and the required run rate slowly crept up. Mark Clayton-Smith took a great catch in the deep, which summed up a great fielding display by the whole team. At one point Farnham looked to be back in with a chance as the pressure started to get to the fielders, but it is a great credit to The Hall that everyone held their nerve and saw out a good victory.
