Willingale v Stansted Hall & Elsenham Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 13 May 2006 at 1.30
Stansted Hall & Elsenham Cricket Club Won 7 wickets
Match report
Hall travelled to Willingale for their second league game of the season. Unfortunately for Hall, news came through on Friday evening that Heathy had been bitten by a midge whilst playing catch in a friend's garden during the week. Neither Heathy or the midge were available to comment but all at the club wish Bren, and the midge, a speedy recovery. Fortunately, his bowling was not missed too much! (Brenden did end up playing for the seconds as they were short - RH)
For the second week running, Livings lost the toss and Hall were put into field on a green wicket. Bousy made an early breakthrough for Hall on his first outing of the season, and later followed that up with another wicket thanks to sharp work behind the stumps by Keefy. Glassy once again bowled magnificently, taking 2-15 off his ten overs, and this almost brought a little smile to his face. Seb also bowled a good spell and deservedly claimed two wickets also. Willow chipped in with one, and also there was a run out. Hall fielded pretty poorly in general, with a couple of drop catches, however catches were claimed by Jonesy, Keefy, Snelling, the skip and Dawson. The highlight of the fielding being the skippers attempted under arm attack that managed to go ten feet higher than Keefy, and for two overthrow's. Well fielded Ben! 'Gale finished on 165 for 8, with Edwards making 56.
Hall set about chasing the target slowly, and Bousy fell for 8 early on. Jonesy, on his return, made 45 steady runs, but was dismissed before he really got going. With three wickets down, Hall were just below the run rate but an excellent partnership between Dawsy and Keefy, Dawsy making 48 not out, led Hall to victory, with the pair playing very sensible and well paced knock's. Hall reached their target with 4 overs to spare, with extra's being the third top scorer for Hall!
