Stansted Hall & Elsenham Cricket Club 2nd XI v Thundridge on Sat 13 May 2006 at 1.30
Stansted Hall & Elsenham Cricket Club Lost 41 runs
Match report
Maybe if this had been a 35 over game The Hall would have won. Tony won the toss and elected to field. It was a good decision. Tony and Nick opened and they kept it tight, Tony's figures were amazing considering the overall run rate and he was unlucky not to pick up a few wickets, but it was nick who made the early break-through. After 10 overs Tony brought on Andy Marshall and Rob Holland. The run rate started to build up as the batsmen got their eye in. Dutchy got rid of the other opener, bowling him round his legs. However, no-one could get rid of Lee, Thundridge's number 3, and he went on to complete his century. The scoring rate dramaticly increased in the last few overs with the boundries being cleared regulaly. Frost holed out towards the end to give Brenden his third wicket in three games, but Morley hit a very fast 43 and the last 10 overs went for 93. We managed to keep up with their run rate thanks to a fast 50 from Tony and 71 from Matt Dinley, but wickets fell and in the end, those last 10 overs made all the difference (we where on 167 compaired to 166 at 35 overs).
Mention must go to the youngsters, who are really beginning to make a name for themselves. Their fielding was great and both Taylor and Kessingland batted very well to get us the full 5 batting points.
