Stansted Hall & Elsenham Cricket Club 1st XI v South Loughton I on Sat 02 Jun 2007 at 1.30
Stansted Hall & Elsenham Cricket Club Lost
Match report
For the second week running, Hall cost themselves 26 Herts & Essex league points in a game that in the end was easily won by South Loughton.
South Loughton skipper Henman won the toss and put Hall into the field in the heat. All South Loughton batsmen seemed to go for it from the off as the run rate increased by the over. Willo and Glassy got wickets quite early on against the attacking batting, as did Golden when he replaced Glassy, but got a bit of tap and was not required to turn over that goldenarm at a later stage. With the run rate ever increasing, the introduction of Baloo and The Hoff tightened things up and both deservedly took wickets regularly, Baloo finishing with 3 and The Hoff, 2. Two run outs, and the South Loughton innings was brought to a halt with 13 balls to spare. South Loughton were all out for 233.
Baloo's tea effort was widely appreciated by all. Hall then started their chase and Glassy was going along nicely until he was well caught off a loose delivery. The Hoff and Baloo were together in tandem once again, and despite making useful runs, did not really take the game to South Loughton as Hall fell further and further behind the required rate. 8's were required when the Skipper joined The Hoff as wickets began to tumble with the new batsmen trying to up the tempo and score some quick runs. Henman was chief destroyer when he took the pace off the ball claiming 4 wickets. Hall were evetually out for a sorry 194 with two balls to spare.
